Current Top Ten Prayer Requests
Updated September 2009
1. We need three “community developers/strategy leaders” for our largest unreached people groups – Jur Modo, Nuer, and Dinka. Pray for John, a Ugandan man, who will hopefully be coming to assist us with our Jur work soon. We are still working on the details but God seems to be leading us in this partnership.
2. Pray for Shannon and Carrie (and their three boys) as they take over the Taposa community development/strategy leader assignment. They are now on the field, in their house, and in the midst of their language and cultural learning. Pray for them as they and their boys assimilate into their community and develop strong relationships with key people.
3. We have three young leaders (Abraham, Isaac, Chaddrack) who have recently studied in Bible school. Pray for their spiritual development and their ability to reach the majority of the population who are illiterate. Isaac is now the director of the Baptist Training Center, Chaddrack is the clinic chaplain, and Abraham is leading the evangelism and church planting efforts. Also pray for John Monchol, Ding Lual, Mathew Dhol and Elijah Riak who are our Baptist leaders in some other parts of SS.
4. The Sudan Six journeymen/gals are doing a fantastic job. Four are working with the thousands of youth who have nothing to do during the day and two are developing an HIV/AIDS ministry. Pray that eternal relationships will be made and many will see Christ lived out in them. Pray that they will meet the key Dinka gatekeepers who will give them success in their efforts.
5. Pray for our strategic partnerships that are developing with key Stateside churches and organizations that want to help in Kingdom work in southern Sudan. Ask that we each clothe ourselves with humility and grace in order to give glory to the Master we work for.
6. Pray for a young couple that will come and work with the youth in Rumbek. Our journeymen have done a great job of groundbreaking and we really need someone to come and oversee the whole youth program. There is now a young couple that has their name attached to this assignment. Pray for Michael and Rachael as they listen to the Holy Spirit in this decision time.
7. Pray for our children, Laura and Joshua. Laura is in a very remote part of Kazakhstan, teaching with the Peace Corps. Joshua is working and going to college in Florida. God is working in both of their lives with new challenges every day.
8. Pray for the new Bible school we have built and are teaching in. We will be training young church leaders in a predominantly oral program that will give them a strong Biblical foundation on which to build and stand firm. There are also women’s classes that are going strong.
9. Be praying for God to provide us with new logistics coordinators. The last couple decided to go to another country and we are desperately seeking someone to fill this critical need.
10. Pray for Wycliffe Mihesu, our Kenyan co-worker, who is laboring along side of us in Rumbek. This continues to be a difficult challenge for him, a Kenyan, with his family so far away. Pray that Wycliffe will remain focused on God and not his surrounding circumstances.
