Current Top Ten Prayer Requests

Updated - June 2010

  1. We need three “community developers/strategy leaders” for our largest unreached people groups – Jur Modo, Nuer, and Dinka. The Dinka request is the top request in our cluster affinity group and is urgently needed.

  2. Pray for Shannon and Carrie (and their three boys) as they lead the Taposa community development/strategy leader assignment. They are now on the field, in their house, and in the midst of their language and cultural learning. Pray for them as they and their boys assimilate into their community and develop strong relationships with key people. Recently they have had their first Toposa baptism. Pray for them as they train their new leaders in a walk of faith.

  3. We have three young leaders (Abraham, Isaac, Chaddrack) who have recently studied in Bible school. Pray for their spiritual development and their ability to reach the majority of the population who are illiterate. Isaac is now the director of the Baptist Training Center, Chaddrack is the clinic chaplain, and Abraham is the Director of Spiritual Training. Also pray for John Monchol, Ding Lual, Mathew Dhol and Elijah Riak who are our Baptist leaders in some other parts of SS and doing excellent service for the Kingdom.

  4. Pray for a new partnership opportunity that we are looking at right now. This will be a very key and strategic opportunity to impact the future of leadership in Akot and areas beyond.

  5. Pray for our other strategic partnerships that continue to grow with key Stateside churches and organizations that want to help in Kingdom work in southern Sudan. Ask that we each clothe ourselves with humility and grace in order to give glory to the Master we work for.

  6. Pray for our children, Laura and Joshua. Laura is in a very remote part of Kazakhstan, teaching with the Peace Corps. She will finish her contract in November and return to the States for graduate school. Joshua is working and going to college in Florida. God is working in both of their lives with new challenges every day.

  7. Pray for the new Bible school we have built and are teaching in. We will be training young church leaders in an oral program that will give them a strong Biblical foundation on which to build and stand firm. From there they will move on to a literate program designed to bring them up to a good level of pastoral ministry. There are also women’s training classes that are going very strong.

  8. Pray for Wycliffe Mihesu, our Kenyan co-worker, who has long labored along side of us in Rumbek. Wiki will be moving back to Kenya in June to be with his family and hopefully go to Bible school in Kitale. Pray that God will provide the means for Wiki to get this much desired training over the next couple of years. Right now he has no job back in Kenya.

  9. Be praying for a group of four young men from Nehemiah Teams that will be working in Dinka cattle camps through the summer (mid-June thru mid-August). Pray for Jermaine who will be leading these young men all summer long.

  10. Pray for Cathy and I as we prepare for furlough in the States beginning in mid-October. We will be Stateside until sometime in the spring of 2011. There is a mountain of work to do between now and then so ask that we be mindful of glorifying the Master in each of the tasks before us.
