"Go swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers." Isaiah 18:2
Dear Swift Messengers,
Thank you for caring and praying for the Dinka of Southern Sudan. God loves them and cares about them as much as He does us. Surely Isaiah wrote about them in the verse stated above. Their situation is so desperate. Many of them are our brothers and sisters in Christ. They love their children and want the same things that we want for our children and grand children.
We tend to glaze over when we read statistics about Southern Sudan, like the ones published by Unicef: Only 1 child in 50 finishes primary school--the lowest in the world. Child mortality rate for under 5yrs is 25% (250 per 1000). The presence of malnutrition is 49%, the highest in the world. But I challenge you to really look at the pictures attached. These are not stats, but real individual people with names and personalities, and most importantly, with souls.
Your prayers and financial support are making a difference. There is a critical lack of medical care available in SoSu (Southern Sudan), one doctor per 100,000 people. However, Akot Medical
Mission is an oasis in a sea of suffering. One of the pictures attached shows Francis, a Medical Officer from AMM, giving immunizations in one of the remote bush clinics. Your donated funds pays for these vaccines, as well as the operating expenses to keep the hospital functioning. The Dinka give God the thanks and praise for the care given to them by you.
"This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God" (2 Corinthians 9:12).
-Thank Jehovah Jireh, Our Provider, for the medical care provided to the children of Akot, through Mustard Seed International.
-Thank Him for the donated funds for uniforms, for the children of the new primary school in Akot.
-Ask the Lord to provide the necessary money to build a classroom for the 50 children attending the new school.
-Pray that there would be no escalation of the fighting between North and South Sudan.
-Give praise to Our Father for the rains necessary for the crops to produce, without flooding.
